Erectile dysfunction

Erectile dysfunction (ED), or impotence, is the consistent or recurrent inability of a man to attain and/or maintain a penile erection for sexual performance. ED is not uncommon, and over 50% of men between 40-70 experience it at some point in their lives. Many men may get a few blue pills from their primary care doctors, but find they are insufficient, or don’t address the issue in its entirety.

That’s where the Bala Wellness & Aesthetics is different.  Where generalists tend to gloss over the root causes, our team of experts specializes in getting to the root cause of the problem and then working with you to create a treatment plan based on our findings. This is the only viable strategy for a comprehensive, long term solution to ED. Unfortunately, many practitioners push only one or two treatment methods (those which are easiest or more lucrative). We spend significant time and effort to pinpoint the causes and will stick with you during treatment to ensure that your performance not only returns, but returns to the fullest potential possible.

During your evaluation, we’ll perform a thorough health history and a targeted exam. ED can sometimes be a harbinger of an underlying issues such as diabetes or heart disease. We may also perform vibration and sensory testing which allows him to determine if your problem stems from a nerve issue. We also perform vascular testing to evaluate the blood flow that is entering and leaving your penis. This allows us to inform you if the problem is a blood flow issue.

Treatment Options for Erectile dysfunction (ED)

At Bala Wellness & Aesthetics we have a multi-dimensional approach to your ED. We will identify risk factors that may be the cause of your erectile difficulties. Depending on your individual problem, we will recommend a treatment plan that may contain lifestyle modifications, medication alterations, erectile function medications and possible hormonal manipulation.

Oral Therapy for Erectile dysfunction (ED)

There are four oral medications that are FDA approved for the treatment of erectile dysfunction. These classes of medications are called phosphodiesterase inhibitors (PDE5) and include sildenafil (Viagra), tadalafil (Cialis), vardenafil (Levitra), and Avanafil (Stendra). PDE5’s may take from 30 minutes to two hours to begin working and sexual stimulation is needed.

Intraurethral Medication for ED

Another alternative for erectile dysfunction are medicated urethral suppositories, also known as MUSE. This is administered directly into the penile urethra through a specialized applicator system and is then absorbed directly into the penis. After using MUSE, erection can occur within ten minutes.*

Vacuum Erection Device for ED

The vacuum erection device works by placing a cylinder over the penis and applying negative (vacuum) pressure. After the penis becomes engorged with blood, an erection is formed. A band is then placed at the base of the penis and the cylinder is removed to have intercourse.

Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy

PRP stimulates a man’s own growth factors in his blood to recruit his body’s stem cells to the penis causing regeneration of tissue and blood vessels.* Learn more about PRP and regenerative medicine.

Intracavernosal Injections

Penile injections are an effective solution for treating erectile dysfunction. By using a combination of medications directly placed into the penis, a sustainable erection can be achieved.* The medications use are tailored to the individual patient’s erectile needs.
